The True Heroes

I just returned from a great weekend. I attend a state wide youth leaders conference here in Alabama, and had a great time re connecting with friends in the ministry that I had not seen in awhile, as well as being able to meet new ones. I always come away from these kinds of events with such a high respect for the part time and volunteer student pastor. I spoke at length with another student pastor who is currently working a church plant situation. He works full time and pours everything else in ministry. Ministry is tough enough at times...putting another job and limited resources on top of that, and you really have your hands full.

To all of the part time and volunteer student pastors out there (which really make up the majority of those in student ministry!), my hat is off to you - you are the true heroes.

I came back with with a new determination to be as much of a resource as possible to other student pastors. Sharing ideas, sermons, web links... More on how I will do that to come later! It seems lately that there is a tide turning in the attitude of ministers everywhere. Ministers are beginning to resource each other like crazy - and I think that is awesome. Getting kingdom minded and helping each other do the job that we have been called to do is where it's at!
